Terms of Service
Last updated: July 5, 2026
Plain-language terms for using Context Engine's website, dashboard, and remote MCP service.
Acceptance of terms
By creating an account, signing in, or using the Context Engine website, dashboard, or remote MCP service (together, the "Service"), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
The Service
Context Engine is a remote MCP server that gives MCP-compatible clients (Claude Code, Cursor, and others) codebase context through a single tool, codebase_context: incremental sync, hybrid dense/sparse/symbol-graph retrieval, and token-budgeted context packs. The Service is provided as-is and may change as we improve it.
Accounts and authentication
You sign in with GitHub OAuth and access the Service using an API key generated in the dashboard. You are responsible for keeping your API key confidential and for all activity under it; rotate it immediately if you suspect it has leaked.
Acceptable use
You may not use the Service to upload content you don't have the right to index, attempt to bypass usage quotas or security controls, reverse-engineer the retrieval pipeline for competing purposes, or use it for any unlawful purpose. We may suspend keys that violate this section.
Subscriptions and billing
Paid plans are billed on a recurring basis and processed by our payment provider, Creem. Quotas, prices, and billing cycles are shown on the pricing page and your dashboard at the time of purchase. We will give reasonable notice before a price change takes effect on your next billing cycle. Cancel anytime from the billing portal; access continues until the end of the paid period.
Intellectual property
You retain all rights to your code and data. We only process it to build indexes and serve retrieval results back to you; using the Service does not transfer any ownership of your code to us. The Context Engine name, branding, and software are our property or that of our licensors.
Availability disclaimer
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your projects at any time from the dashboard. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms or the Acceptable Use section above.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the jurisdiction where we operate, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, unless a mandatory local law grants you additional rights.
